NOFX is a punk rock band from California. You
can't just call them punk because their music is so diverse. You will hear
straight forward punk rock, melodic punk,
hardcore, ska, reggae, and much more. The current members are Fat Mike (vocals,
bass), El Hefe (guitar, trumpet, vocals), Eric Melvin (guitar, vocals), and
Erik Sandin (drums). The band began back in 1983 down in Los Angeles. The
original band consisted of Mike, Eric, and Scott. They started off on Mystic
Records where they released a couple seven inches that later were compiled
onto a cd called Maximum Rocknroll in 1984. They didn't like what was going
on at Mystic so they started self-releasing
stuff. They released a seven inch called The PMRC Can Suck On This in 1987
that featured Mike, Eric, Erik, and Dave. They also released a full length
called Liberal Animation in 1988 that featured Mike, Eric, Erik, and Dave.
Liberal Animation was produced by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz who
formed Epitaph Records that year and signed NOFX. NOFX released S & M Airlines
in 1989 on Epitaph Records and that featured Mike, Eric, Erik, and Steve.
The re-release of Liberal Animation was
in 1991 on Epitaph. Then Ribbed came out on Epitaph in 1991 and featured Mike,
Eric, Erik, and Steve. Around 1992 Mike had started Fat Wreck Chords up in
San Francisco. The band aquired El Hefe and released The Longest Line on FAT
in 1992 featuring Mike, Eric, Erik, and El Hefe. This year also saw the re-release
of The PMRC Can Suck On This on FAT. They also released the seven inch, Liza
And Louise, on FAT in 1992. Then came the next full-length called White Trash,
Two Heebs, and a Bean in 1992 on Epitaph. Then came the Don't Call Me White
seven inch on FAT in 1993. Then came the next full length, Punk In Drublic,
on Epitaph in 1994. In 1995 they released
a 10"/CD on Eurotaph called Leave It Alone. Also in 1995, they realesed a
live album on FAT called I Heard They Suck Live. Then came their next full-length,
Heavy Petting Zoo (Eating Lamb) in 1996 on Epitaph. Then came a limited edition
seven inch called HOFX on FAT in 1996. Then they released a 13 song seven
inch called Fuck The Kids on FAT in 1996. In 1998 their next full-lenth, So
Long And Thanks For All The Shoes, was released on Epitaph. They also released
another limited seven inch called All Of Me on FAT in 1998.
